Claire's sign on wall

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers to avoid using cosmetics sold by Claire’s Stores and Beauty Plus Global after the agency found makeup products containing asbestos, a cancer-causing material for which there is no safe level of exposure.

Products that tested positive for asbestos have been pulled voluntarily by both companies.

The recalled products include:

  • Beauty Plus Global Contour Effects Palette 2, Batch No. S1603002/PD-C1179
  • Claire’s JoJo Siwa Makeup Set, SKU #888711136337, Batch/Lot No. S180109

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral used as a fire-retardant and water-resistant material in construction and other industries for decades. Inhaling or consuming asbestos can lead to serious respiratory diseases including lung cancer and mesothelioma.
